"Mayakovskaya" Metro Station, Moscow. "Real Russia" ep.122 (4K)
The deepest insight into “Mayakovskaya” metro station of Moscow, Russia. “Mayakovskaya” is one of the most beautiful stations in Moscow Metro, located on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line. It is built in 1938 by the project of an architect Alexey Dushkin. Renovated in 2010. The station named for a famous Soviet poet, Vladimir Mayakovskiy. The station was built as part of the second stage of the Moscow Metro expansion, opening on 11 September 1938. If the first stage was more focused on the building of the system itself, both architecturally and when it comes to the engineering, the stations appear modest in comparison to those that the second stage brought to the system. For the first time in the world, instead of having the traditional three-neath pylon station layout, the engineers were able to overlap the vault space and support it with two sets of colonnades on each side. This gave birth to a new Deep column station type design, and Mayakovskaya was the first station to show this. Located 33 meters beneath the surface, the station became famous during World War II when an air raid shelter was located in the station. On the anniversary of the October Revolution, on 7 November 1941,Joseph Stalin addressed a mass assembly of party leaders and ordinary Muscovites in the central hall of the station. During World War II, Stalin took residence in this place. Alexey Dushkin's Art Deco architecture was based on a Soviet future as envisioned by the poet Mayakovsky. The station features streamlined columns faced with stainless steel and pink rhodonite, white Ufaley and grey Diorite marble walls, a flooring pattern of white and pink marble, and 35 niches, one for each vault. Surrounded by filament lights there are a total of 34 ceiling mosaics by Alexander Deyneka with the theme "24-Hour Soviet Sky." In 2005 a new second north exit was built, along with a new vestibule. Passengers leaving the station first descend on a short escalator ride into an underground vestibule, and then ascend the long way to the surface. The new exit also allows access to the 35th mosaic, which was previously hidden behind the service section. Other mosaic works were designed from scratch, accompanied by ample use of marble and stainless steel sculpturing. The bust of the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky was moved to the new surface vestibule, whose ceiling was also decorated with a mosaic composition from Mayakovsky's poem "Moscow Sky". http://youtube.com/user/realrussiablog http://facebook.com/realrussiablog http://facebook.com/sgbaklykov realrussiablog@gmail.com

THE BEAUTIFUL MOSCOW METRO
Welcome to the most beautiful and most accessible museum in Moscow - the Metro. The Moscow Metro is one of the busiest underground systems in the world with a daily ridership of over 9 million people. The Moscow Metro is the world record-holder for on-time departures and arrivals. According to the Moscow transport department, its accuracy is 99.99 percent and the average train during rush hour is every 90 seconds. The metro is so beautiful that 44 of the nearly 200 stations are listed as cultural heritage sites. During World War Two, the Moscow metro became bomb-proof shelters, like in London. Half a million people found shelter underground, and people slept in the carriages of trains that were parked overnight in stations. When airstrikes were especially frequent, there were shops and hairdressing salons in operation at the stations, and for example the Kurskaya metro station had a working library. There is a legend concerning the appearance of the circle line, which wasn’t originally planned. The myth states that during a meeting, Stalin put his cup of coffee on the metro map leaving a brown circle around the city center. Stalin showed the circle to the builders and ordered the construction of such a line. This is why the line is brown. Around 26 metro stations were renamed after the collapse of the Soviet Union as well as names of streets, squares and avenues around the city. Main reason for that was, of course, letting go of the Communist past. Like the Oyster card in London or the Octopus card in Hong Kong, Moscow has the Troika Card. The Troika is a contactless reusable card designed to pay for public transport in Moscow. Passengers using the Troika card can pay for their trips by bus, trolleybus, or tram for 31 rubles and the Moscow Metro for 32 rubles. It's also possible to get unlimited cards, like mine which is 5000 rubles for 3 months. If you’re using the metro in moscow, I highly recommend the yandex metro app. It is an interactive metro map of Moscow which calculates your time and route. To help those who are visually impaired, as well as people just lost, the metro announcers voice changes. On a journey towards the centre, a man’s voice is used. While going away, a woman’s. Moscow

Moscow (/ˈmɒskaʊ/ or /ˈmɒskoʊ/; Russian: Москва́, tr. Moskva; IPA: [mɐˈskva]) is the capital and the largest city of Russia, with 12.2 million residents within the city limits and 16.8 million within the urban area. Moscow has the status of a federal city in Russia.

Moscow is a major political, economic, cultural, and scientific center of Russia and Eastern Europe, as well as the largest city entirely on the European continent. By broader definitions Moscow is among the world's largest cities, being the 14th largest metro area, the 17th largest agglomeration, the 16th largest urban area, and the 10th largest by population within city limits worldwide. According to Forbes 2013, Moscow has been ranked as the ninth most expensive city in the world by Mercer and has one of the world's largest urban economies, being ranked as an alpha global city according to the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, and is also one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world according to the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index. Moscow is the northernmost and coldest megacity and metropolis on Earth. It is home to the Ostankino Tower, the tallest free standing structure in Europe; the Federation Tower, the tallest skyscraper in Europe; and the Moscow International Business Center. By its territorial expansion on July 1, 2012 southwest into the Moscow Oblast, the area of the capital more than doubled; from 1,091 square kilometers (421 sq mi) up to 2,511 square kilometers (970 sq mi), and gained an additional population of 233,000 people.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro (Russian: Моско́вский метрополите́н, tr. Moskovsky metropoliten; IPA: [mɐˈskofskʲɪj mʲɪtrəpəlʲɪˈtɛn]) is a rapid transit system serving Moscow, Russia and the neighbouring Moscow Oblast towns of Krasnogorsk, Reutov and Kotelniki. Opened in 1935 with one 11-kilometre (6.8 mi) line and 13 stations, it was the first underground railway system in the Soviet Union. As of 2016, the Moscow Metro has 200 stations and its route length is 333.3 km (207.1 mi). The system is mostly underground, with the deepest section 74 metres (243 ft) underground at the Park Pobedy station, one of the world's deepest. As of 2016, the Moscow Metro is the busiest metro system outside of Asia and the 5th longest in the world.

Operation

The Moscow Metro, a state-owned enterprise, is 331.4 km (205.9 mi) long and consists of twelve lines and 199 stations. As of 2013 the system has an average daily ridership of 6.73 million passengers with the peak of 9.28 million. Each line is identified by a name, an alphanumeric index (usually consisting of just a number) and a colour. The upcoming station is announced by a male voice on inbound trains to the city center, and by a female voice on outbound trains. On the Circle line, the clockwise direction uses a male announcer, and the counter-clockwise direction, a female. The colour assigned to each line for display on maps and signs becomes the line's identifier colloquially except for the nondescript shades of green or blue assigned to the Kakhovskaya Line (route 11), the Zamoskvoretskaya Line (route 2), the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya Line (route 10), and the Butovskaya Line (route 12).

Train station

A train station, railway station, railroad station, or depot (see below) is a railway facility where trains regularly stop to load or unload passengers or freight.

It generally consists of at least one track-side platform and a station building (depot) providing such ancillary services as ticket sales and waiting rooms. If a station is on a single-track line, it often has a passing loop to facilitate traffic movements. The smallest stations are most often referred to as "stops" or, in some parts of the world, as "halts" (flag stops).

Stations may be at ground level, underground, or elevated. Connections may be available to intersecting rail lines or other transport modes such as buses, trams or other rapid transit systems.

Terminology

In the United States, the most common term in contemporary usage is train station. Railway station and railroad station are less frequent; also, American usage makes a distinction between the terms railroad and railway.

In Britain and other Commonwealth countries, traditional usage favours railway station or simply station, even though train station, which is often perceived as an Americanism, is now about as common as railway station in writing; railroad station is not used, railroad being obsolete there. In British usage, the word station is commonly understood to mean a railway station unless otherwise qualified.

Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/user/nurettinodunya/playlists Moscow's Railway Stations: In Moscow there are nine railway stations which are named after the main destination they serve (or historically served). Most of the stations are terminal stations and Moscow is the end of the line. Only two stations are transit stations: Belorussky and Kursky. Long distance trains and suburban trains ("elektrichki") leave from all the stations, with the exception of Savyolovsky Railway Station which only has suburban trains. From Moscow you can get to practically every city in Russia by train and even to cities in China, Belarus, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Switzerland, Ukraine, and some other countries in Europe and Asia. For more information about Russian trains in general, including information on buying tickets, see our special section on Russian trains. GENERAL INFORMATION All nine stations are located next to metro stations. Therefore if you need to go from one station to another, it is best to use the metro as it is cheaper and will avoid any traffic jams. However if you still prefer to take a taxi you can easily find them outside the station - all official taxis are yellow and have a meter. It is not recommended to use private taxis at stations as the price for foreigners will be especially high (usually double the standard rate). "THREE STATIONS SQUARE" Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky and Kazansky Railway Stations are all located together on Komsomolskaya Ploschad which is served by Komsomolskaya metro station. People often call this square Ploschad Tryok Vokzalov (Three Stations Square). You should always give yourself plenty of time to find your train as it can sometimes be difficult, and this is especially true if you are leaving from one of the three stations on Komsomolskaya Ploschad. You can usually get on your train 30 minutes before it is due to leave. Yaroslavsky Railway Station - Ярославский вокзал: Moscow's Yaroslavsky Railway Station is another of the three railway stations located on Komsomolskaya Ploschad. It is next to the Komsomolskaya metro station on the brown circle line and the red line. Out of all of Moscow's railway stations, Yaroslavsky Railway Station serves the most destinations. Tickets for trains arriving or leaving from Yaroslavsky Railway Station state the name of the station as 'МОСКВА ЯР' ('Moskva Yar'). Yaroslavsky Railway Station connects Moscow with northern Russia, the Urals, Siberia, the Far East and the capitals of China and Mongolia. Suburban trains from Yaroslavsky Railway Station head towards Aleksandrov.

With about 180 subway stations throughout Moscow, Russia I can't remember which one this is because I was on so many of them! Nevertheless, the extensive subway systems throughout Russia are one of the few things Joseph Stalin can be thanked for. For the first time in the world, instead of having the traditional three-neath pylon station layout, the engineers were able ...

Park Pobedy is a Moscow Metro station in the Dorogomilovo District, Moscow. At 84 metres underground, Park Pobedy is the deepest station in Moscow and the third deepest in the world by mean depth, after Kiev Metro's Arsenalna and Saint Petersburg Metro's Admiralteyskaya, and the very deepest station by maximum depth, 97 m.[1] It also contains the longest escalators in Europe, each one is 126 metres long and has 740 steps. As always, thanks for watching, and please subscribe to my channel for more information about Moscow! Music by NOWË: https://soundcloud.com/nowemusic/ insta: @jonnytickle

The Russian Ministry of Defence opened the doors to its massive Don-2N radar station in the Moscow Region, Tuesday. The base protects the Russian capital from ballistic missile attacks. Ilgar Tagiev, Head of the Department of Combat Programs (Russian): "The Don-2N radar system has no equivalents in the world, it is a powerful, high-potential radio-location unit with centimetre-range waves. It can complete all anti-missile defence tasks, for example, fixing on targets and aiming counter-missiles." Andrey Cheburin, Anti-Missile Unit Commander (Russian): "Thank God, that our unit has never been deployed in active warfare at all. I think, that we will never use it in the future too because it will be the point of no return." Welcome to my travelchannel.

Currently, Moscow Metro has 182 stations. Its route length is 301.2 kilometres (187.2 mi). With about 180 subway stations throughout Moscow, Russia I can't remember which one this is because I was on so many of them! Nevertheless, the extensive subway systems throughout Russia are one of the few things Joseph Stalin can be thanked for. In 2011, for about one U.S. Dollar, I could go to one of any of the 180 stations throughout Moscow. Millions of travelers use Moscow's subway system each day and I, myself, found it very convenient as well. Here's my personal webpage about Russia in general: http://www.rogerwendell.com Here's my page about transportation issues: http://www.rogerwendell.com/transportation.html 09-05-2011

Your trip to Moscow, Russia is bound to be a special one. From the multicolored spires of St. Basil’s Cathedral to the sturdy red walls of the Kremlin, there is much to see and do in this stunning city. Named after the Moskva River—which flows through the city—Moscow has long been at the forefront of the creative world. Tour Moscow to follow in the footsteps of Tolstoy and Chekhov, among others, and join in the sense of pride Russia feels for its literary tradition. Moscow has named a number of its parks and open spaces after its poets and authors, so take a break at the fountain in Pushkin Square, or rest beneath the leafy trees in Gorky Park. When you’ve gotten your fill of literary splendor, head to the Memorial Museum of Cosmonauts, where you can learn about the Soviet Union’s efforts to reach the stars and the epic space race that lasted from 1955 to 1972. Moscow is a city of creativity and innovation, but is also very much aware of its own history; as such, a haunting part of any Moscow sightseeing is a visit to the Fallen Monument Park. After the fall of the Soviet Union, countless statues and monuments were removed from their pedestals and moved to this park. Over the years, more modern artwork and sculptures have been added, turning the park into a strange, yet peaceful graveyard of former icons. What is your favorite part of Moscow? Travel video about destination Moskva in Russia. Moscow is the capital of Russia and the largest city in Europe. Both Tsar rule and soviet communism gave the city its present appearance. It has witnessed much change and has become a prosperous city and one of contrast and the superlative, of millionaires and also the very poor. Vasiliya Blazhennovo Khram, Basilius Cathedral, is one of the main landmarks of the Russian metropolis and was built at the command of Moscow sovereign, Ivan The Fourth, also known as Ivan The Terrible, Russia’s first Tsar. The cathedral is representative of Moscow’s architecture with red brick monuments and an accumulation of onion-shaped towers. The Kremlin extends beyond a red wall and various towers that date back to the fifteenth century. Since time immemorial it has been the seat of both tsars and bishops and in front of its walls is Red Square that was once used as a marketplace and also a place of execution. Here the death penalty was declared and immediately carried out. Arbatskaya is a city district west of the Kremlin. In the fifteenth century, the craftsmen and servants of the Tsar lived there and then followed artists, intellectuals and aristocrats. In 1935 the Metro was inaugurated and had thirteen stations. Today there are more than a hundred located along two hundred and sixty kilometres of rail, used by millions each and every day. The Moscow Underground is fast, cheap and quite splendid. Its stations are veritable works of art! When the Tsar’s empire vanished, the realm of the Communist rulers was torn apart. But the mega metropolis of Moscow managed to survive. A restless and powerful city of fantastic culture and truly dramatic history.

Four hundred miles west of Moscow is St. Petersburg, Russia. A striking city resting on the banks of the Neva River, St. Petersburg has long been a draw for lovers of architecture, as St. Petersburg tours often begin with the city's legendary structures. Enter a world of towering cathedrals, palaces, and gardens, many of them set down by the order of Peter the Great in the 18th century. As the decades passed, later members of Russian royalty added to the city's opulence by constructing additional marvels. Walk through the Palace Square, located in the heart of St. Petersburg and home of the Winter Palace, the sprawling home of Catherine the Great. Next, pay a visit to St. Isaac's Cathedral and its gold-plated dome, which glitters in the sunshine. If you walk to the top of its dome, you will be rewarded with astonishing views of the city. Continue your St. Petersburg sightseeing by taking a boat ride down the river to Peterhof Gardens & Palace. This gilded structure and its lush array of plant life was constructed to rival France's Palace of Versailles, and is a popular place for a quiet walk in nature or to reflect upon the engineering marvel of its 60 fountains, all of which flow continuously without the use of pumps. Spend your evening walking along Nevsky Prospect, St. Petersburg's main thoroughfare. Besides offering even more beautiful architecture to gaze upon, Nevsky Prospect is loaded with restaurants and boutiques. Enjoy a delicious meal, shop around for the perfect Russian souvenir, and plan the itinerary for your next day in this magnificent city. What was your favorite part of St. Petersburg? In this episode of our new series “Russia: Tips, Tricks & Travel” we’ll show you how to break the enigma that is getting a tourist visa. Russian bureaucracy is legendary, and for good reason - it can be an absolute nightmare. However, if you know what to do, getting a tourist visa to visit Russia is easy. The problem is finding out what to do. In this episode our host Tim Kirby (who has experienced his fair share of Russian red tape) has scoured the Internet and made all the right calls to the right people to show you how to get through this relatively simple but vague process. Don’t forget to watch our previous episode about how to use the Moscow Metro. Watch more - www.rbth.com

The deepest insight into “Mayakovskaya” metro station of Moscow, Russia. “Mayakovskaya” is one of the most beautiful stations in Moscow Metro, located on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line.

My visit to Russia begins along the Baltic Sea in Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg is Russia's second-largest city as well as its cultural capital. The Historic Center of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next I continue on to Moscow, Russia's capital and most populous city. Here I visit historic Red Square and the Kremlin. The Video concludes with my visit to the Trinity Monastery of St. Sergii in Zagorsk.
